Viva La Frida -The Frida Kahlo Selfie Window

This Summer we decided to do something a little bit fun.

We ran a Window display inspired by the artist Frida Kahlo, to coincide with the exhibition “Frida Kahlo – Making Herself Up”, running at the V & A Museum in London, as we are also stocking the book that goes along with the V & A Exhibition.
The Window ran for 6 weeks as a “living Window Display” where Frida fans of all ages could step inside our shop window and pose for a photo, styled as Frida.

The window display was a collaboration between ourselves and 2 other independent businesses on our street.

Flotsam 50 – who have a shop selling faux florals, upcycled furniture and Annie Sloan paints – created a beautiful hoop covered in colourful, tropical faux flowers to act as a “photo frame”.

Shelagh from Adorabella Crowns – a creative workshop space and flower crown specialist – created an array of Frida inspired faux floral headbands for selfie-takers to wear.

The window created a huge stir and was featured in the local newspapers and on the Devon Live website.

There was also a competition – a share on Instagram and entered you into a prize draw for a Goodie bag, which included a Luxury candle by True Grace.

We think everyone who tried out the Frida window had a lot of fun! Everyone seemed to enter into the spirit of it… we really enjoyed putting this together and engaging with people who wanted to have a go, all summer long.

Huge thanks to Jo Dart from Flotsam 50 and Shelagh from Adorabella Crowns…we couldn’t have done it without you.
